How can I know Jesus?

If you’ve lived very long on this earth, you know that little to nothing comes for free. Everything has a price. That is everything except the gift of eternal life and relationship with Jesus.

Each person is separated from God, because God is perfect and we are not. Romans 3:23 says that all of us have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. He loved us so much and made a way for us to have peace with Him. John 3:16 tells us that God gave His one and only Son, Jesus, as a sacrifice for us to bridge the gap between man and God that had been created by sin so many thousands of years ago. Jesus, being perfect, died on a Roman cross about 2,000 years ago. He paid the price, paid our fines, as a gift to allow us to once again live in eternity with our Creator.

The Bible tells us that in order to receive the gift that Jesus Christ has offered to us we have only 3 requirements:

1. Admit that you are in fact a sinner. Have you ever lied, cheated, stolen, lusted, or committed any of the other acts that are known as “sin”? Of course, we all have. None of us have reached perfection, we break God’s instructions on a regular basis, which is why we need a savior. Just as someone who has broken the law needs a lawyer to defend them, we need Jesus to be our ultimate defender. Admit that you are a sinner, and ask Jesus to be your defender from the penalty of sin.

2. Believe in Jesus. The Bible tells us that He is the Son of God and is one with God. He actually came to the earth in human form in order to take the punishment of sin for us as He was nailed to a cross. The Bible also tells us that He defeated death and rose from the tomb 3 days after his crucifixion, proving that He truly was the Son of God and had conquered the penalty of sin which is death and eternal separation from the Creator. In order to accept the gift that Jesus offers, we have to truly believe that He is who the Bible says He is. If we don’t believe in Him, then we can’t believe in the gift He so freely offers.

3. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is your Lord and Savior. Once we admit that we are sinners, and believe that Jesus paid for our sins, then the Bible tells us we need to confess that very thing. God wants to know that you actually believe what His word says, and that Jesus actually did die for you. We show that by speaking it out of our mouth. That’s when things become real right? We can have all kinds of thoughts in our head, but when we speak it out and share it with others those thoughts become real. God created the entire world just by speaking, and He gave us the power to create with our words as well. Once we believe in Jesus we need to speak it out, and let others know the good news…that they can know Jesus just like you.

If you want a relationship with God, ask Him for life in Jesus. We would love to talk to you about your new relationship with Jesus. We would also love to give you a Bible, if you don’t already have one, because after you meet Jesus for the first time, you need to be in His Word to really get to know Him better.
